The state may not be holding the annual Tax Free Weekend, but retailers in Lenox have banded together to still offer that great discount to shoppers this weekend.
Many Lenox retail stores will be offering a discount equal to the state’s sales tax of 6.25 percent on all purchases that are subject to the sales tax on both Saturday and Sunday.
Lenox Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kameron Spaulding explained that after hearing the program would not return this year the chamber reached out to local retailers replace the program with an alternative that still offered discounts to shoppers.
“We hope that our customers can enjoy the same benefits as the great Tax Free Weekend has offered in the past by shopping local this weekend,” Spaulding said. “We would love the state to step in and make sure the program returns, but in the end we will pass on the same savings on to our customers.”
