IS183 Art School of the Berkshires

By May 26th, 2017No Comments

In the summer of 1991, IS183 opened its doors in what continues to be its historic landmark home base in Stockbridge, Citizens’ Hall. We now offer programs across the county from Great Barrington to North Adams.

Our mission
IS183 is a non-profit community art school encouraging people of all ages, means, and skill levels to enrich their lives through hands-on art-making.

How we achieve it

Studio classes, workshops, and intensives for beginners to professionals, led by our remarkable faculty artists, who teach students the skills they need to master a wide range of media.
Learning Through Arts: an engagement program that has had a deep impact on more than 1,000 children a year (in school residencies, after-school programs, and summer camps) by using art-making as a tool to improve academic and behavioral learning in 17 of our region’s lowest performing schools.
In 25 years, IS183 Art School has touched the lives of 40,000 adults and 16,000 children in the Berkshires.
